Suranne Jones treks The Great Wall of China for the Charity!
British actress Suranne Jones (better known as Karen Macdonald in Coronation Street) will be trekking the Great Wall of China to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity. Suranne has been a keen supporter of the Charity after her attention was drawn to the high profile Bolton Fire in summer 2008 and the bravery of the fire fighters involved. She has since gone on to raise money for the Charity in various ways including appearing on Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire last Christmas.

Sascha Kindred tests his knowledge on Celebrity Mastermind!
Charity supporter, Paralympian Swimmer Sascha Kindred, appeared on Celebrity Mastermind for the Charity in December. His chosen topic was Manchester United Since 1990 - we'd like to thank Sashca for participating in the programme which raised a fantastic £3,000 for the Charity!
Sharon supports National Schools' Fire Safety Day
In March 2005, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne were saved by a fire alarm after a blaze broke out while they were asleep in their home in Buckinghamshire. After the alarm went off they fled into the garden taking their pets with them, as fire fighters rushed in to extinguish the blaze!
Sharon and her family managed to escape safely and therefore this year she is supporting National Schools’ Fire Safety Day on October 14th 2009 - a campaign ran by The Fire Fighters Charity and Local Communities and Government Fire Kills Team. This year’s campaign will focus on ‘planning a safe escape’ and will be specifically targeted at Key Stage 1 children.She is urging families to put an escape plan in place and practice it. Sharon said “" From time to time I would take Ozzy and the kids through a fire drill at our house so we were always prepared!"

Downing Street
All Spirit of Fire nominees were invited to meet the prime minister at a reception at Downing Street. Footballer David Ginola also showed his support to the Fire and Rescue Services and the Charity on the day.

Ricky swapped his gloves for marigolds
Boxer Ricky Hatton gave up his day job to wash cars with fire fighters in Greater Manchester for the Charity's National Car Wash!
Britton's largest car wash
In March 2009, Daytime TV host Fern Brittan got her hands dirty at her local fire station in Beaconsfield. Fern dually washed cars all day, raising funds for the Fire Fighters Charity on National Car Wash Day.
Who wants to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity?
Earlier this year, actress Suranne Jones put her general knowledge to the test on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Together with Corrie's Anthony Cotton they won a fantastic £50,000, which was shared with Anthony's chosen Charity, Terrance Higgins Trust.
Grand opening for rehabilitation centre
A £1.8million refurbishment was made to our rehabilitation centre - Marine Court in Littlehampton! Bafta winning actress Brenda Blethyn and paralympians Sascha Kindred and his fiancé Nyree Lewis were there to open the centre.
Support for local fire fighter
Boxer Amir Khan, funny man Dave Spikey and actress Suranne Jones spent the day at Bolton Fire Station, showing their support to Steve Morris - a Bolton Fire Fighter who was received serious burns in a fatal incident last year.
Amir's battle of the badges
Police and fire officers who took part in Amir Khan's Battle of the Badges boxing event smashed expectations by raising more than £16,500 for charity at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton July 2009.
27 police and fire officers were put through a gruelling four-month training schedule by a team of Amir Khan's trainers to prepare them for the fight night, in which fire and police competed against each other in individual bouts. The two teams also benefited from the expert advice of Amir Khan, who dropped in to check on their progress.
Manchester all stars football match
After hearing the news that a fire fighter had been seriously injured in an incident in Bolton, The Manchester All Stars - a team made up of celebrities from the world of TV, took part in a football match against Salford Fire Fighters to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity. The celebs won!
