What is Online Fundraising?

If you are raising money for the Charity, an easy way to raise funds is by setting up an online fundraising page. You can set up a free, customised fundraising web page which friends, family and colleagues can visit to sponsor you securely online using their debit or credit card. The money you raise comes directly to the Charity so once they've sponsored you, all you have to do is thank them!


The Charity is registered with two online fundraising sites: Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving.

Just Giving
Justgiving.comTo build your own fundraising page with Just Giving, simply log onto www.justgiving.com and then:

  1. Select 'Make your page'
  2. Enter your details
  3. Follow the step-by-step guide

When it asks you to select the Charity you are fundraising for, search for 'The Fire Fighters Charity'.

 

Virgin Money Giving

Virginmoneygiving.comTo build your own fundraising page with Virgin Money Giving, simply log onto www.virginmoneygiving.com and then:

  1. Select 'Create your page'
  2. Select what you are fundraising for from the 4 options
  3. Follow the step by step guide

When it asks you to select the Charity you are fundraising for, search for 'The Fire Fighters Charity'.

Fundraising Page Tips!

  • Personalise your fundraising page: Tell people what you are doing, why you are doing it, and why you are supporting The Fire Fighters Charity.
  • Add photographs: Show people what you've been up to by adding photos to your fundraising page
  • Update your page: To keep your page fresh, update it on a regular basis with details about what you are doing and your progress. For example if you are training for a run or a trek, update your page with details of your training.
  • Advertise your page: Make sure you tell people about it so they can sponsor you. Send friends, family and colleagues an email telling them what you are doing and include a link to your fundraising site (Just copy and paste the URL of your fundraising page into the email). If you are on Facebook, advertise your page via your status update and remember to include a link to your fundraising page.
