999 Bike Challenge
September sees a group of five fire fighters from Basingstoke Fire Station, undertaking a charity bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats. They will be cycling a total distance of 999 miles!
The team are aiming to cover the distance in around twelve days, an average of 84 miles per day. They intend to sleep at Fire Stations, youth hostels and camp where possible so as to raise the maximum amount for the charity concerned. Marquis Motorhomes have kindly leant a motorhome to the team, helping them to save on accommodation costs and therefore raising more funds for the Charity.

Lottery winner donates £500 to local station
Peter Pink, one of the many lucky Ben Fund Lottery jackpot winners, has recently donated £500 of his winnings back into his local fire services.
Mr. Pink served as a Sub Officer at Wickham Fire Station for twenty years and presented a cheque to The Fire Fighters Charity Station Rep and Station Officer as a token of thanks and good will. Peter won over £23,000 in the December 2006 lottery draw, with ticket number 760488.
"I wanted to put something back into the fire services in order to give help to the areas that need it most," explained Peter. "By making this donation, I know that The Fire Fighters Charity can put this towards helping firefighters, child and family focused therapy or any number of their services for Wickham."
