After almost three decades spent protecting others, retired firefighter Neil Adair is now facing his own toughest challenge: living with motor neurone disease. Thanks to a garage conversion, however, he’s been able to remain at home with his loved ones. Ruari Scates has bravely shared how he reached out for support after “hitting rock bottom” – in the hopes he’ll inspire others to seek help earlier than he did, so they never get to that point. West Yorkshire Crew Manager, Jon Arey, received support and guidance from us when he moved house with his daughter and faced financial challenges. West Yorkshire firefighter, Sam Bland, shares how our programme at Jubilee House helped her come to terms with the challenges she’d been facing with Long Covid. West Yorkshire on-call firefighter, Stewart Warman, received physical health support when a major knee injury meant months off work – all of which impacted his mental wellbeing.
