Gary’s story
Gary Williams has inspired fire cadets across the UK to fundraise for years, and hopes by sharing his own story of support, he’ll also encourage members of the fire services community to reach out when they need support, too.
Everyone needs support sometimes. Hear from some of the people Fire Fighters Charity has helped to move forward with positive change, personal achievement, progress and transformation in their health and wellbeing.
Gary Williams has inspired fire cadets across the UK to fundraise for years, and hopes by sharing his own story of support, he’ll also encourage members of the fire services community to reach out when they need support, too. Michele Carter worked for Cambridgeshire FRS for 34 years and has dedicated decades to raising funds and awareness of the support available to working and retired colleagues. Firefighter Drew Telfer has received counselling support as well as attending our Reset Programme at Harcombe House – both of which he says have massively improved his mental wellbeing. Retired Watch Manager, Martin Aldred, shares how we’ve supported both his physical and mental health – and why taking the time to look after yourself, early, can pay dividends in the long run. Thomas Warner, who works as Service Improvement Manager with Bedfordshire FRS, shares his experience of attending our Reset Programme and how he’s adapted his lifestyle since.
