Scottish firefighter David Kerr has raised the most amount of money by any individual during our Fire Family Challenge. He and his wife, Karen, turned a negative into a positive to say thank you to the charity for the support we showed them during the toughest months of their lives. Surrey Fire and Rescue Service's Volunteer Manager Andy Hart spends his days helping organise the distribution of Personal Protection Equipment to non-NHS locations around the county. He says it's a nice feeling, knowing he's doing his bit during the COVID-19 pandemic. When London firefighter Kieran Egan's son needed extensive surgery to remove tumours from his ears, the charity provided financial support so travel and accommodation could be one less thing to worry about. Six months ago, Berkshire firefighter Jamie Reeve's brother was hurt in an incident and remains in a critical condition in hospital. In the months that followed, our Welfare Services team have supported the family as they come to terms with their uncertain future. And when the coronavirus threatened their wedding day, Jamie and his partner, Charlotte, took matters into their own hands and got married in their back garden, just the two of them. After her firefighter husband passed away suddenly in April, panic attacks were ruining Suzanne Constable's life. She agreed to contact the charity and see what they could do for her, but she had no idea just how much she would take away from her week at Marine Court.
