The Fire Fighters Charity is delighted to announce that Andrew Lynch, Editor of FIRE magazine, was appointed to the position of Chair at the Charity’s Trustee Board Meeting last week.

Andrew, who has had close links with the Charity since 2000 and been a Trustee since 2011, takes over from Ken Seager who had held the position for five years.

Speaking following the announcement of his appointment, Andrew commented: “It is a great honour and privilege to Chair the Board of Trustees  at The Fire Fighters Charity and I look forward to working with the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Trustees and our wonderful volunteers and staff to continue to ensure we are providing the best possible services for our beneficiaries.  I am committed to engaging with our beneficiary base and supporters to ensure our high standard of service provision is well known across the Fire and Rescue Service and to the general public.

“I would like to take this opportunity to praise the retiring Chair Ken Seager for his tireless work on behalf of The Fire Fighters Charity and his unwavering leadership of the Board of Trustees for the past five years.  Ken’s strong leadership and dedication has helped to steer the Charity towards a sustainable position and we must build on his work to make sure it delivers outstanding services for future generations.”

Speaking of the challenges that lie ahead for The Fire Fighters Charity and of the work begun by his predecessor, Andrew added: “Ken has been adamant that our beneficiaries understand fully the challenges of fundraising in the changing fire and rescue service environment.  I am passionate about projecting that message to ensure we gain the levels of support required to maintain and improve our wide range of health and wellbeing services.”
