Erica Dillon, a Press Officer for BTR Liverpool is one of our seventeen 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon runners and this month she has organised a multi-terrain trail run through the Formby Pinewoods in Merseyside as part of her fundraising efforts.

The 39 year old will line up alongside an expected 40,000 other runners on Sunday, April 22 for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon, running 26.2 miles with our Charity jersey on.

Erica said; “This will be my 10th marathon and first time running the London Marathon. I’m so excited and am really looking forward to it. I’ll be really nervous on the day but I think the London Marathon has got to be one of those experiences that you just have to do.”

She continued; “I turn 40 next year so the London Marathon is six weeks after my 40th. It’s quite a milestone year – it’s also 10 years since I worked for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service on the World Firefighter Games in Liverpool, so I decided it would be a nice year to give something back to The Fire Fighters Charity for such a great 18 months working at Merseyside Fire and Rescue.

“Firefighters do such an amazing job and it’s a good way of actually being able to give something back and to say thank you to the firefighters for the tough job that they do 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and it will be a real privilege and honour to run the London Marathon for The Fire Fighters Charity.”

Erica’s fundraiser, The Woodland Womble, meanwhile, takes place on 18  February will start and finish at MeCycle next to Ainsdale railway station, Ainsdale with runners assembling at 10am for a 10.30am start. Three routes have been planned to cover five, seven or nine miles so participants can choose their preferred distance with a suggested donation of £5.
