Julie Munro, a freelance hairdresser from Surrey will be running the Virgin Money London Marathon for us next year and to help reach her fundraising target held a charity ball last month.

Julie’s husband Darren, who also retired from the London Fire Brigade last month after 30 years of service, was one of the 250 firefighters from stations all over London and the South that responded to the Grenfell Fire tragedy in June where 71 people tragically lost their lives.

Julie said; “I wanted to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity following Grenfell that my husband attended back in June along with hundreds of his colleagues. The Fire Fighters Charity provided amazing support for everyone that attended and I just felt it was really a worthwhile cause and personal to me.”

The ball, held at Kingswood Golf and Country Club in Surrey raised £19,000 with proceeds split between our charity and London’s Air Ambulance.
