The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Royal Foundation today announced the launch of Our Frontline, a new mental health support service for frontline key workers – including those across our blue light services – during the coronavirus pandemic.

Supported by The Royal Foundation and operated in partnership with Samaritans, Mind, Shout and Hospice UK, the new service will provide round the clock support – through trained volunteers, via telephone or text – to all of those going to work as part of the national response to the coronavirus. It will also offer resources, tips and ideas to look after your mental health.

Following the launch of Our Frontline, HRH Duke of Cambridge held a roundtable call with representatives from organisations supporting the NHS and emergency service key workers, to explore issues arising from the coronavirus situation and options for further collaborative working. The Fire Fighters Charity’s Chief Executive, Dr Jill Tolfrey, was present on the call and said afterwards; “It was an honour to represent all the frontline fire and rescue service key workers who are working tirelessly, in such extraordinary circumstances.

“The pressures our emergency services are facing today are unprecedented and the long term impact of them is as yet unknown. The Our Frontline partnership represents a much needed 24/7 facility for key workers to use whenever they need it, whatever the time of day or night. The Fire Fighters Charity, meanwhile, is proud to work with The Royal Foundation to support the long term mental, physical and social wellbeing of the UK’s fire services community.”
