Care home employees kindly spent the day with us at Marine Court recently to volunteer their time in the centre’s outdoor areas.

Three employees from Waterhaven Place, which is part of the Connaught Care group – Fatima Zadran, Bridget Andoh and Ksenia Koval – as well as Fatima’s partner, Ollie Watts, carried out some heavy gardening and ground works.

As part of their extensive work, the group refilled slate and gravel borders, picked litter across all outdoor areas, and dug out a soil and grass patch to create two further parking spaces in one of our car parks.

Waterhaven Place is currently being refurbished and the volunteering day is one of many being carried out by staff in the local community, while the works are being completed.

James Sandercock, our Estates & Facilities Manager, says: “The group showed incredible enthusiasm on the day and really got stuck in, we’re so grateful for the work they completed – all of which will benefit our beneficiaries visiting the centre.

“Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we’re hoping to welcome the group back to carry out a further volunteering later this year.”
