A Cumbria FRS Station Manager has raised £1,000 with a garden party fundraiser in aid of us – his 11th annual event in a row.

William ‘Willy’ Watson hosts the party each year, usually in aid of us or The Gambia Fire and Rescue Service, and this year’s event saw several bands perform on stage, with raffle prizes up for grabs and generous donations made throughout.

The event is a fantastic example of how our supporters can combine a fun event with making a huge difference to people’s lives in our fire services community.

Willy says: “Over the years we have supported many different charities but mainly The Fire Fighters Charity and The Gambia Fire and Rescue Service.

“It is hard to put an exact figure on the total amount we have raised over the 11 years, as some of the costs have been met by donations in kind.

“I would like to thank everyone who came and gave generously, all the people who donated their time or prizes and everyone who helped to erect the marquees and stage etc.

“I would also like to thank my wife Lynne, for “making” me dress up as Freddy Mercury and “forcing” me to push a hoover around the dance floor whilst singing I Want To Break Free! Without all the hard work she puts into this event, it simply wouldn’t happen.”

We thank Willy and all his friends and family who have made the event possible over the years.
