Great North Run

Take on the Great North Run, one of the loudest and most supportive marathons in the UK in support of Fire Fighters Charity.

We’re excited to open applications for our 2027 Great North Run charity team. Each year, we’re inspired by the passion and commitment of our supporters, and we can’t wait to welcome a new group of runners who will take on this iconic challenge and help us make an even bigger impact.

For 2027, we have 25 charity places available. If you’d like to run for us, raise funds, and be part of something special, we’d love to hear from you.

The race date is 12 September 2027. Applications close on 31 October 2026.

Registration Fee: £35 (including VAT)

Suggested minimum fundraising target (excluding Gift Aid and Match Funding) – £350

80% fundraising to be achieved by Friday 2 July 2027

What to expect when you apply

  1. Apply online Tell us why you want to run and share your fundraising ideas.
  2. Our team reviews your application Our team reads through your application and considers things like your fundraising potential, any past involvement, and what connects you to our cause.
  3. Shortlisting We pull together a group of runners who feel like a great fit for the team.
  4. A quick call Our Regional Fundraisers give shortlisted runners a call to get to know you a bit better and hear more about your plans.
  5. Offers made If everything feels right, we’ll offer you one of our 25 charity places for 2027.

If you don’t receive a charity place, you can still take part with your own entry and fundraise for us. We’d love to have you involved however you choose to run.
