Members of our fire services community are there for us every day, and today – like every day – we want to thank them for their incredible dedication.

As we join the nation in marking Emergency Services Day, we take the opportunity to honour and celebrate all of our emergency services and the vital work they do to keep communities safe.

Sherine Wheeler, Chief Executive of Fire Fighters Charity, says: “This 999 Day, we stand with everyone working in our fire and rescue services and the wider emergency services. Every day, they put their health and wellbeing on the line for our communities. We thank them for their dedication and courage, and we honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of others.

“Fire Fighters Charity provides care and support whenever it’s needed so that every member of the fire and rescue services community lives well and feels valued and recognised.”

At 9am, on 9 September, there will be a two-minutes’ silence to remember all those emergency service staff who have lost their lives as a result of their service to our nation. Please join with us in taking this time for reflection, and in thanking all our emergency services for the incredible work they do.

We provide timely clinical care and wellbeing support to members of the UK’s fire services and their families, helping them to adapt to physical, emotional and social challenges, to live well with conditions, injuries and illness, and to transition to life after service.

But we couldn’t do it without your ongoing support.

Your donations mean we can be right here, ready to help those who protect us when they need it. Visit www.firefighterscharity.org.uk/donate to find out more about donating today. Thank you.
