A group of 18 London firefighters and their colleagues across the service raised thousands of pounds by completing the National Three Peaks Challenge.

Starting on 3 May, the team – made up of 18 hikers and four dedicated drivers – set off from London to Fort William Fire Station, their base for the first night.

And through their incredible fundraising in the lead-up to the day, they raised £7,500 – to be split between us and LFB Welfare Fund.

LFB firefighter Adam Stollery, who has helped organise the fundraiser, said: “All 18 hikers started together, full of energy and smiles, ready to take on the first peak. Naturally, as the challenge unfolded, smaller groups formed along the way – it’s no easy feat keeping 18 people with different fitness levels moving as one! But the determination never wavered.

“Every single person gave it their all from start to finish. Tackling three peaks back-to-back is no small achievement, and the effort and resilience shown was outstanding. And let’s not forget the absolute legends who drove us hundreds of miles across the UK between the peaks – battling tiredness and tough conditions to make sure we stayed on track. They were just as crucial to this success as the hikers themselves.

“We’re proud to say that, together, we’ve raised over £7,500 for Fire Fighters Charity – an incredible result that will make a real difference to those who need it most.

“In the end, people who had never met before came together, took on a huge challenge, and left with new friendships, unforgettable memories, and a sense of pride that’s impossible to buy.”

Louise Furneaux, our Regional Fundraiser, says: Firefighting is all about teamwork and what better way to celebrate the spirit of the fire family than this fantastic fundraiser? I’m delighted so many supporters were able to come together to raise funds for us – they make such an incredible difference to the care and support we can offer them and their colleagues across the UK. A huge thank you to all involved.”
