Mark's Story

“I shouldn’t have waited until I was burnt out before contacting you”

For former RAF firefighter Mark Latham, the combination of a near-fatal accident and traumatic incident while deployed in Afghanistan left him struggling to cope. He waited to ask for support because he felt like he didn't deserve help, something he says he regrets. But since visiting Harcombe House, he's happier and healthier than he has been in years.

How we could help you

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. We provide independent, personalised support to thousands of people each year, and they’re not all firefighters. We exist to support all fire and rescue service personnel, whatever their role in the service. We are also here for all those who have retired, as well as for spouses and dependants.

Ways to support us

The Fire Fighters Charity doesn't receive regular government funding and we rely on voluntary donations and fundraising income to fund the support we provide. In these are unprecedented times we are asking everyone in our fire family to do what they can to support us through this challenging time.
