A last-minute stay at Marine Court gave single parent Claire Allen and her son Josh the time and space they needed to find peace, both with themselves and each other. Here the former retained firefighter from Devizes shares why she thinks people should cast aside embarrassment and ask for help when they need it.

Time is precious. We all know that – whether we’re at work, at home or at play, it always feels as if there aren’t enough hours in the day. Even so, there are those amongst us who go out of their way to try and give back to their local community by volunteering their time on top of all their daily responsibilities – Stuart Plaskett, Fire Fighters Charity Service Coordinator for Cheshire Fire and Rescue, is just such a person.
