Steve Johnson has been one of our dedicated volunteers from the moment he started in Cleveland Fire Brigade in 1992. Now, as he retires from his job, he reveals why his roles have been so rewarding – and why he hopes to continue into the future. We’ve supported Phil Maynard for years – firstly with his mental health and more recently following a hip replacement. Now he’s going above and beyond to show his appreciation. Tina, whose husband was in Scottish FRS for 30 years before his retirement, reveals how her son Greg has been helped by the charity following a brain tumour and subsequent stroke. Firefighter Uroosa Arshid was inspired to become a Station Rep for the charity having dreamed of joining the fire service and making a difference since she was a child. For retired firefighter Nigel Brown, the fire service has become ingrained in his family history. Now he reveals why he is gifting part of his father’s estate to the charity, as a thank you for the years of support they’ve received.
