The Wannell family have been supporting us since the 1970s with their vintage turntable ladder fire appliance – having experienced our support first-hand, through the generations. West Midlands firefighter Iain Hughes tragically passed away in 2023, while swimming the English Channel in aid of us and two other charities. Lancashire on-call firefighter, Glen Bailey, spent 24 hours continuously lifting weights in a gym to raise funds for us. David Gill set himself the challenge of running 8 miles every day for eight years, before upping it to match the length of the equator – an incredible 24,901 miles. A team of six firefighters - based in or around Loughborough - will take on 181 miles in full fire kit and BA in memory of their friend Andy Watt, who passed away on 28 July 2022.
