Community’s bike ride after family saved by firefighters

A community came together to take part in a bike ride in aid of us, after their local fire crew saved two brothers who were trapped in a house fire last year. Killingbeck Green Watch, from West Yorkshire FRS, will run the half marathon in aid of us while wearing full firefighting kit. The match raised a huge £26,000, to be split between us and two other charities, in memory of Norfolk on-call firefighter Carl Mills. Former firefighter Graham Matthews is a member of a Lodge in West Sussex and says we were chosen as their charity of choice after his dad, who was a firefighter for several decades, passed away. Colleagues from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have completed their fifth Phoenix Challenge in memory of their friend Stu Crebbin.
