Representatives from Fire and Rescue Services across the UK put their golfing skills to the test at this year’s Firefighters’ Charity Golf Cup – and not only came out with a hole in one on each day, but an incredible £5,295 raised for us in the process.

Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service hosted the annual two-day event at the Macdonald Portal Golf Resort, with pairs on one day and singles on another, all in a team format.

A total of 21 services were represented and Cheshire ended up taking first place, with East Sussex coming second and Greater Manchester in third.

Neil Spratt, National Secretary for the Fire Sport UK Golf Section, says: “Whilst playing to win the cup and prizes, this is also a chance for us to raise some much-needed funds for The Fire Fighters Charity. The auction and raffle held raised a fantastic £5,295. We know that this money will go to support the excellent work that is done by the Charity, and that events such as these are vital for The Fire Fighters Charity to continue doing its work.

“We would like to thank all the FRS’s that took part and Horizon Shutters for their sponsorship of the event. Congratulations to the Cheshire team for running out as overall team winners.”

Jeff Scrivens, our Community Fundraiser, adds: “Thank you to all those involved in organising and taking part in this year’s Firefighters’ Charity Golf Cup. I loved watching the fantastic teamwork across both days and it was an incredibly generous amount raised for us.”

Next year’s event will take place at Sprowston Manor, hosted by Norfolk FRS. Find out more about the cup here.
