Firefighter Stephen Wharton is the winner of a Pride of Britain Award after rescuing a boy who was submerged under water for 25 minutes. Charlie Thompson, a firefighter with Greater Manchester FRS, attempted to break a Guinness World Record in full fire kit in support of the Charity. Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has raised more than £4,000 by completing the Bob Graham Round – twice – after many personnel were helped by the Charity. On-call firefighter Joey Hawke finished an epic fundraising challenge by getting down on one knee to surprise his girlfriend – despite struggling with a painful injury. After suffering an accident at home, Lynn Iredale received support from the Charity last year. Now, to say thank you, her employers have made an incredible gesture.
